In particular, I had a pretty wicked Saturday. I woke up early and headed downtown to the farmer’s market in meetinghouse square. I wandered around and got a banana/Nutella crêpe from the crêpe truck and just attacked it. Attacked it!So then I found my way up to the dart, which is the city train that runs along the coast. I took the train to Howth (rhymes with ‘both’), and after getting on a few wrong trains and a few right ones, I got to Howth safely.
I could tell you that I was traveling to Howth to enjoy the lovely view of the Irish Sea, or to take in the charms of a traditional Irish seaside fishing village.
Howth (sea is past the lawn, just to the right)

Howth. Village is at the top, sea....is at the bottom.
But this, I confess, was a trip planned entirely around my chippy of choice—Caffé Caira. The café is a little hole-in-the-wall about 6’x20’ that sells the BEST fish and chips in the county. They load your meal into a brown paper bag and you pour in all the salt and vinegar you like. I got fresh cod and chips and drenched them in vinegar and salt, I’m talkin’ about a half cup of vinegar. Unfortunately, on my way out of the shop, the paper bag sprang an untimely leak. This is the part of the story where I walk down a quaint Irish shorefront with vinegar literally pouring down my front, dripping from my shirt and pants, totally unaware. It wasn’t until I got to the pier and had a crowd of dogs and birds around me that I realized. I was like the Snow White of dirty homeless animals. Once I was done eating, the dogs followed my vinegar-soaked pants all the way back to the train station.

On my way to the Howth train station.
But no matter! I took the train home and visited my favorite Dublin park, Merrion Square, where First Communion girls were posing for pictures in the garden. Eventually I made my way home and took a nice nap before heading out to the clubs for the night with my flatmate and her friends.

It was a GREAT day! It was a VINEGAR-Y day! It has made my Monday feel very LONG and BORING by comparison!
Shout out to Elisa for rocking her pharm exam. And big ups to Scott for giving Genie in a Bottle the Crowley treatment at Hartfield karaoke on Friday!
