Shows I’ve been watching lately:
Hollyoakes: A deliciosly-tacky English soap opera. Granted, I can’t stand soaps, but just having it on reminds me of Sarah and Elisa watching GH and shouting and crying and yelling at the TV. I didn’t catch a bit of their soaps…they were the real entertainment.

World’s Toughest Tribes: This fluff guy from London works blue-collar jobs for a period of 3-5 weeks. Whining ensues, and there are generally great pride taken in a menial task, like cutting a tree with a chain saw or driving a dump truck. Hands are callused, skin is tanned, street cred is developed(?)

Time Team: Crazy. British. Archaeologists. This show is an instant classic. Please do visit the site and check out the long-haired archaeologist. He also has 2-inch fingernails, which he uses to point to all the scrollwork in found clay pots and stuff. Grrrrosss!!

Sile: (pronounced “sheela”) It’s the Gaeilge or Gaelic-language network’s TRL. So, it’s Beyonce, Hillary, Britney, PCD, all set to the tune of a Gaelic-speaking Carson Daly countin’ down the top ten. This is fun. It’s just pure fun.
SHOWS I MISS
Barefoot Contessa: Who doesn’t love the way she finishes her chocolate brownies or salmon tartar with a “Now how bad could that be?”
House: I’ve spent 2 weeks trying to acclimate to counting in litres and Celsius, and having to pick up on things like saying “vitamins” instead of “VIGH-ta-mins” and “crisps” instead of “chips”. I would just love to hear Brit Hugh Laurie try and fake an American accent right about now.
Paula’s Home Cooking: Lend me your stick of butter! Sing to me your sweet song of home-fried goodness!
Grey's Anatomy: Haha, sike! I deffo do NOT miss you, Greys.
And lastly, because it’s lunchtime around here…
FOODS I MISS
Taco Bell crunchwrap supremes
Ranch dressing on McDonald’s chicken nuggets
Seasoned fries….hell, even calling them “fries” instead of “chips”!
BBQ ribs
Deep dish pizza
A medium rare steak
Frank’s hot sauce….on everything. Franks drowns all sorrows in its hot and vinegary embrace.
