Fall: Gravity and Chlorophyl in Action

I'm gettin' really into autumn.

Today, I went looking for good desktop backgrounds (an pasttime that was borne out of an unfortunate lack of busywork), specifically fall color backgrounds.

Being a Michigander (holla!), a great color state, I figured MI could provide the pic I needed.

Sure enough, I came upon the blog Michigan in Pictures, a site that features one photo shot in Michigan each day. It's great--it's gorgeous, it's no-frills, it's Michigan. And for those of us who have lived, schooled, and otherwise grown up in the pleasant peninsula and have forgotten its charms, this is a nice way to reconnect with the state that we, ultimately, know and love.

Fall is puuuurty.

I've got Dublin mountain out the window here with the leaves all turning up and down its sides and it's really pressing me to head west and see what majesty Co. Kerry holds this time of year. I've visited Kerry in October before, with spectacular results. So, in 2 weeks I'll bus out there and do either a rental car or bus tour around the Ring of Kerry, to reconnect with my namesake county (also known as the "sheep f**kers county", unfortunately).

But as for other fall things I wish I were enjoying...

Franklin Cider Mill: cider, donuts, caramel apples, pumpkins...
Clarks Pumpkin Pie Spice ice cream: makes cold days colder...and more delicious
Apple Orchards: always make for a nice autumn Saturday treat
Mitten shopping at Target: Always the best hats, scarves and gloves! Always!

Aw, but it's okay. I'll find cheap substitutes over here to keep me happy. :)
