What a good birthday!
The weather was perfect and I got to go shopping, go to the park, have a nice lunch, go to the gym, and then at night I got a big call with my number one guy (who has officially finished his first year of law school--holla!) and I went for tapas and wine with the o'flatmate. I'm just a weeeee bit hungover this morning, but I'm trying to hide it as best as possible because, after all, hangover after a sick day bodes poorly. Even in Ireland where you can be drunk just about anywhere, anytime (proof of this: man with empty fifth of vodka riding the train this morning).
So thank you to everyone for the cards and thoughts and emails and customary facebook shoutouts and everything else. It was a really, really great welcome to the quarter centurian club.
Now, as you may have noticed by the counter at the top of this page, I'm nearing 10th May, the anniversiary of the day I arrived in Ireland. Can you believe it's been a whole year? It's gone so, so quickly. To celebrate, I'm taking a costal tour for the day on Saturday. It goes down past Dun Laoghaire ('dun leary'), a costal town, and then winds its way to Powerscourt Castle. The castle has beautiful grounds and scenic views and is a really nice place to spend a few hours on a pretty spring day. It'll be really great.
OH! Check out DavidHorvitz.com. David's selling stuff. Stuff you wouldn't necessarily think you need or want. But the more you look, the more you find. This is a must see.
Do you have any big weekend plans? Is the weather nice where you are? The 65 degree "heat" has left people very, VERY red over here. It's funny--you can basically watch an Irish person burn. It magically appears right before your eyes. They burn so gracelessly, in blotches and patches. This weekend was sunny here so people came into work on Tuesday with neon red edits all to their bodies. One guy has a neon pink face. No one has made fun of him. They all just ask if he went somewhere nice. Here, a burn is a badge of honor--you found sun. You did the impossible.
So enjoy the sun and your healthy ability to tan if you have it. Good Thursday!
