Great news this morning! The company quarterly outing went late last night so my drunkard CEO won't be in til noon! HOORAY! I'm kicking back and doing a bit o' work here at my desk niiiiice and relaaaxed. Work can be fun when it's not executed in the oppressive presence of a tyrant! :D
So this morning my loverly boyfriend wrote that to help get through the tough times over here, I should try listening to U2's "Walk On". I went online to look up the full and complete lyrics and found a few webpages dedicated to sharing personal statements about what the song means to you. Turns out, people really love this song for lots of different reasons. Some call it their breakup song, some grieve to it, some hear a cry for peace in it, others have found a suicide savior.
Though I've studied and written poetry for several years now, I gotta admit: Idunnowha Bono isa talkin about in this song. But some of the lyrics are comforting, and the song does make you want to struggle through. This whole thing has made me wonder: What does this song mean to you? Do you have an idea of what Bono is trying to say? Do you have a motivator song I could borrow for the tough times?
I'll keep "Walk On" on my playlists, but if I was going to put my money on a favorite uplifting song, it'd have to be one of the 2 country songs I like in this world: Rodney Atkins ,"If You're Going Through Hell". You know it? It's based on a Winston Churchill quote:
