Co. Kerry kickin' arse on the football pitch. :P
First off, County ME won the all-Ireland Gaelic Football semi-final and are on to the final against Tyrone! In the spirit of the natural optimism and blind glee that the Irish show every victory, The Kerryman, Co. Kerry's newspaper (I'm totally calling Evan 'The Kerry-man' from here on out) ran this article in response to the win:
Kingdom [Kerry] have to get back on the horse straight away
THIS year this Kerry team just want to do it the hard way. Paul Galvin gone for the summer. Darragh Ó Sé missing in action for the replay. Declan O’Sullivan injured earlier in the Championship. The concession of goals.
The throwing away of eight point leads. Kerry will have been so disappointed with last Sunday that there is bound to be a sting in the tail. It is a mark of a great team to keep bouncing back and make no mistake this is a great team. Cork played quite poorly last Sunday. They were shaky defensively. The amount and quality of ball played into M i c h a e l C u s s e n left a lot to be desired.
On a side note, GAA is the sports association of Ireland and also the nickname for the national sport, Gaelic Football. The other major sport in Ireland is hurling--basically the coolest sport you've ever seen--and you can find out more about both right here.
Hurling...synonymous with badassery.
But that's more than enough sports talk for me today. Can't take too much of that now. No indeed. So aside from the sport, I also went out to Lusk in north Co. Dublin to visit Fiona and see her new house. It made me want a house of my own so bad! She and her boyfriend Ian are having so much fun painting, redecorating, having folks over...it's everything you dream of and more! I portned many of my idle hours in the coming weeks spent longingly on Century21.com and potterybarn.com...
So I also went to see Step Brothers this weekend. Who didn't think that was funny?!?! I laughed so, so hard at some parts! How can you not love John C. Riley and Will Ferrell? It boggles the mind. Yeah, some parts were waaaaay too corny, and I wonder if the drum-attack scene that I saw here was the same one you saw in the States (mine was....wow), but mostly that movie was a good, easy laugh. I reccommend seeing it, but, you know, if you can avoid spending $10 to do so, by all means, do. Like you already know, I have a monthly cinema pass that lets me in to unlimited movies for €20/month, so I'll go to whatever, but I do feel bad for my buddy Claire, who had to pay €10 and has a degree in film to boot...she did not enjoy that movie. LOL, aw poor Claire!
Well have a good Monday. I have to dig into this soul-rapingly awful work, but I'm enjoying memories of a fantastic weekend. Talk tomorrow!
