I'm going to Belgium!
This Friday I'm off for a 3-day trip to Brussels, Bruges and Ghent. I am VERY excited! I found some cheapo tickets last week so I'm going to zip off for the bank holiday weekend. I am looking forward to getting away from some the stress of college applications and some other annoying issues that have cropped up in the last week or so and just take a deep breath of Belgian air, get a good look at the Belgian fall colors, and have a big honkin' bite of a fine Belgian chocolate. That ought to set me right again!
As I have neither ever been to Belgium nor known anyone who has visited the country, this will be an interesting trip into somewhat uncharted territory for me. There are some exciting things to look forward to in Belgium, namely of the food variety. Belgians are:
-Creators of chocolate truffles and chocolate pralines
-Inventors of french fries
-Famous for bacon-wrapped endive baked in cheese
-Brewers of the frothy Trappist beers for over a thousand years.
Oh........this will be a good relaxer alright. And a lot of lovely treats to be had before I go and get my pesky cracked molar sorted out next week!
Other than Belgium, things are hectic and yet nothing to write home about. The Dublin Oktoberfest was on this weekend. They had some beers n' stuff. I saw Tropic Thunder last night. When did Tom Cruise get so funny? Also, I'm reading The Magus by John Fowles for book club. At 650 pages, that man sure likes to move the pen. I'm a bit of the way in and am enjoying it so far.
Ah, so see, Dublin can be as boring as anywhere else I suppose! Well, maybe I am forgetting something else exciting....if you happen to chat me up today, ask me about San Francisco. I've got news for you. :)
Have a good Monday!
