Wheel in the Sky

A FREEZING COLD (not literally, it's above freezing) Thursday in what is shaping up to be a very quick week!
But brrrrr is this office cold! It's about 37 degrees in Dublin right now and I'm feeling every bit of that in the office. It's so cold, I moved to another desk near a heater becuase my hands started hurting from the cold. Jesus.
And good GRAVY is that crazy to everyone in the office. People keep stopping by (there's only about 10 people in today, but still) and asking me if I've moved, and what's going on, and commenting disbelievingly when I tell them I'm cold so I came over by the heater. It makes people so perplexed, that I would pick my butt up, walk over, and sit down here, soooooo much energy, just to be warm! Someone just said to me, "Seeeeriously?" in a very thick Dublin accent when I explained it to them. Yes! Yes seriously! I'm an animal, an animal who's cold and I'm getting close to the fire.
....um, but anyway. Last night I had Mexican food with flatmate Stephen in the only Mexican restaurant in town. I was SO EXCITED for Mexican, but it was a little different than what I'm used to. For example, the menu was fairly standard middle-of-the-road Mexican fare, such as enchiladas and chimichangas. But they didn't have tacos. TACOS. And they had margaritas, but also a 3-page selection of wines, most of which were from Australia. Enchiladas and wine sounds.......well it sounds no thank you.
But I chalk the menu up to proximity; the further you are from the location, the less likely you'll get it right. I mean, in the States we're across the pond from Ireland and we screw up all their dishes, so if they mess up Mexican, I guess it's understandable. Hugely dissapointing, but understandable.
So after our cheesy spicy feast, we went home and I basically pounded a package of Tums, and we cleaned up a little bit. We pitched this cd tower sitting in the middle of the living room that looked to me like a statuesque homage to 1992. CD towers are so archaic now! And always dusty. Always. Anyway, we pulled these hilarious mix cd's off the tower, left over from Stephen's former flatmate Enrico, an Italian guy with a penchant for making the most random mix cds on the planet. It'd go like this:

Wheel in the Sky, Journey
Let's Get it On, Marvin Gaye
Man I Feel Like a Woman, Shania Twain
Concerto, Bach
Jamiraquai
Jamiraquai
Jamiraquai
Candle in the Wind, Elton John

I was laughing SO HARD while Stephen went through them. I was like, "What occasion did he intend to play these at? When do you require that blend of music?!" It was so funny, I almost wanted to save them....but I didn't. Sorry, Enrico, your 1995 mix cd's are--musically, technologically and now physically--a thing of the past.
Anyway, tonight I have some intense reading to do. Next Wednesday is my first meeting of the Dublin Book Club and I intend to be a pulled together group leader, which involves at LEAST having read the book. So I'm hitting up a cafe tonight and turning some pages.
Also, gym. Ick.
So have a good Thursday! Talk to you soon!
