The execs wanted the site to look pretty, but didn't know who the best person was for the job. They needed someone young, someone female, someone who, to the best of their knowledge, has a natural feminine understanding of pretty stuff...Oooor, the only chick in the department would do, too.
I felt their collective think tank slowly crane its neck in my direction. Eureka.
Do I know how to build a website? No. Was today my first time ever opening Dreamweaver? Well, yeah. And most importantly, do I have a latent understanding of what looks puuuurty? Well, I started the website. You be the judge:
PRETTY MUCH WHAT THEY EXPECTED FROM THE ONLY GIRL IN THE DEPARTMENT.
lol. I work with boys. Boys with stereotypical views of women.
Now. Now. Now see here. Last night was my Dublin Book Club, where we discussed Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. That book is so rich, there is just tons to think on. And I have to tell you, thinking and talking critically about a book gives you such a rounder view of it; it really makes your time investment in the book so much more worthwhile. You should deeeefinately consider joining a club or starting one of your own. Most libraries host them, which is a good way to start if you are curious!
Now, also last night we had a new member, Tessa, who is from Vancouver and works in my area of the town. She has been here for 6 months and is also looking for people to hang out with. So I made a buddy. :D Friend scene has been slim and short since I've been living in the stix with Mr. and Ms. Annoying for the last 1/2 year, so I'm very excited to be in town and in a better place and meeting folks again. ESPECIALLY someone with an "eh?" at the end of their sentences!! (Charlie, I know you miss that too even down in Ann Arbor!).
Sooooo have a good Wednesday! (whatever you do, don't say hump day. 1, its gross. 2, thats corporate lingo. don't be that guy.)

YAY MY LITTLE PONY!
ReplyDeleteAnd secondly, THANK YOU for finally addressing the disgusting nature of "hump day." I thought I was the only person in the world who felt that way, but again, you prove to me why we're friends.
