Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarcelona where the wind comes sweeping down the plain!
Starting to get excited! Tomorrow night I'll be landing in Barcelona, aka 25th bday-ville!
I bought my guidebook yesterday and started looking at the sites I want to visit and things I want to do. For starters, there's this monstrosity:

La Sagrada Familia, aka Gaudi's big ol' church. Just need to show you a second picture so you can get an idea of how big this beast is:

jeeeeeeeeeboo!
I wanna go up in the bell towers. Hope I'm not afraid of heights!
Okay but also, I want to set aside my maddeningly exhausting sightseeing pace for this trip. I want to leisurely see a few things, but also do some shopping, sit on the beach, read on the boardwalk, see the zoo and get some wine and tapas in me. This is a birthday treat, which should be treated as a relaxing, trashy-novel-reading, sun-soaked weekend.

So...I have to tell you something.
Don't get mad at me.
Someone told me yesterday I'm picking up an accent.
I'm going to work on it, okay? I'll recover. Shut up, it happens. It's a YEAR over here now, and surrounded by all Irish people, all the time. Who, I might add, do not understand my Mich accent. At all. They act like I'm speaking German. And, you know, a little transference happens. But yes, yes, I will ditch it. I'll will myself beeeeack to a Meeeeechigan eeeeeeeaccent. :P
Anywya, it was just one little slip but it got the entire office talking about how I'm picking up a bit---BIT of a brogue, and then they all immediately started trying to recreate a half-Michigan, half-Irish brogue and man, I must sound funny, cuz it came out like a drunk Bostonian. But, in fairness, the closest thing to a American/Irish mix is a drunk Bostonian. It's true.
Anyway, have a good day! Go get something nice for lunch. Don't let this food crisis scare you--don't go crazy and try to buy 12 bags of costco rice. Just get yourself a nice nacho bel grande and cherry pepsi. Lighten up a lil.
Good Thursday!
I say give in to the new accent. Its way more fun than Mich. speak.
