Irish Man Goes for Swim

The picture on today's front page Dublin Metro was of a man going for a swim off the Dublin coast yesterday. That's right, the weather is so crappy here that a swim in August makes front page news.

Could someone please talk about how the only reason the US is so involved in the Georgian conflict right now is because Georgia was one of the chief contributors of troops to the Iraq war? This is Bush returning an IOU--is the US media reporting this? Secondly, Russia has invaded in an attempt to regain oil-rich Causaia, and now the US has swooped in, rather opportunistically. Is the US media reporting this?? Georgia was told by NATO not to provoke Russia in any way. They were told that if they did, they would not be supported by the US. However, Saakashvili invaded anyway knowing the US would come to his aid. This...is messy.

I'm off to Co. Armagh for the weekend for some down country goodness. We're going to take a drive through Co. Down, the prettiest county in the North, go see the vistas in the Mourne Mountains, and I'm sure a bit of craic and ceol will be had in between. :)
