Ireland Updates!

-Book Club discussed "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy this week. Oh, this is a fantastic book. If you read this book and all you see is a post-apocolyptic father-son ditty, you've missed out. Read it again. And come talk to me. This was a doozie of a book, the best I've read since Middlesex, I think.

-The Dublin Trad Fest is on this week, which means traditional Irish music pouring forth from all the pubs in Temple Bar, where I live. It's been fun visiting the smaller pubs for some really authentic trad sessions. The tourist pubs are clogged up with (sigh) us, Amurricans, and we're kind of cheezburger-and-cannihaveadietcoke-ing it up. It's ruining the flava. Sorry to be that ex-Patriot, but it's a lil bit true. Anyway in the pubs I've been in the music and craic and Guinness has been great!

-I'm heading to Armagh this weekend with Stephen, in good ol' Northern Ireland. We'll do all my favorite (favourite?) Armagh stuff including having Chicken Supper from the Chinese takeaway for £3, going to the Armagh Football Club's tiny pub, The Harp, and having "the usual"--would you believe I have a "usual" there? That's cuz I'm the 2nd American they've met and also because I'm a girl who drinks full pints of Guinness and also cuz I am with the most notorious frequenters of The Harp, the Toner family. I am looking forward to a good night of laughing, singing, dancing, some tin whistle, Noel trying to teach me to dance, and then waking the cows Sunday morning (don't ask) and going to St. Patrick's Cathedral for Sunday mass followed by big ol' Sunday dinner. :D

If you have time, check out the two sites I cannot stop reading. They're both home blogs...if you have a favorite home blog let me know, I can't get enough of this stuff!

Swedish mom, wife, homemaker. She does it all--works, cooks, decorates and has a fantastic sense of organization. You'll love her house. And her website. And her.

Where your secret passion for cooking will match your secret passion for photography and your double-secret passion for cowboys.

Enjoy!
