Ireland with Kaitlyn

I'm back from a fantastic week on the road! Kaitlyn and I had a couple of fun days in Dublin before heading out of town and down into the country. We traveled in impecable style, as you can see here:

A rimless, beat-up Nissan Micra. AKA: The Hotness.

We traveled first south to Glendalough, the Valley of the Lakes, and had a nice 5k walk.

Kaitlyn got a ham sandwich for lunch with a classically Irish amount of goopy mayo on it. This did not please her.

From there we traveled to Cashel to see the famous Rock of Cashel (an entire castle, not just one rock), and also to Blarney Castle to kiss the Blarney Stone. This is accomplished by climbing to the top of a medieval castle and heaving yourself over backwards like so:

Once you're upright again, the views are pretty nice.

We then drove to Co. Kerry, which had some classic Kerry amazing scenery:

And had our Lenten Friday salmon dinner up in Kilorglin, Co. Kerry, before heading out to the Dingle Peninsula for some of the prettiest/scariest driving in Ireland. We're talking one-lane cliff roads with switchback turns that you honk to get around without crashing.

But like I said, the views were worth it:

We spent Kaitlyn's last nights in Dublin and had [more than] a few pints at Mulligan's pub, which, if you are buddies with Kaitlyn, you can see on her Picasa. Otherwise you'll just have to come over to see Dublin pub life in person!

Great week, I'm excited to get back to reality. I've got a 10k coming up in just 4 weeks that I have to train for, and some serious Guinness drinking to work off from last week (thanks Kaitlyn). ;)  Also, I'm going to Budapest next weekend, Milan next month, and Elisa comes in April! Lots to look forward to!
