The Boater

I'm a boater!

I went down to the Immigration office this morning to get my immigration ID card....aka, a boater identification card, to pick us squatters out of a crowd. Getting the card is humiliating. They corral you through lines and around corners, make you wait in stuffy, sparce waiting rooms. They take pictures of you and tell you things like "Ma'am, ma'am....please be silent." Then you get a little card that classifies you as defiantely NOT Irish. This is made very, very clear to you.

I feel like I just got denied access to the cool kids club.

But hey! I'm an official immigrant. Isn't that crazy? I'm an immigrant. That word is so...so getting-off-a-boat-in-NYC-in-1910. It doesn't feel like it applies. And yet, here I am.

So last night I toured the most AMAZING apartment. For those of you who know Dublin, it's on Harcourt Street, not 3 minutes from St. Stephen's Green and Grafton Street. For those of you who don't know Dublin, this is the Times Square of Ireland. Best. Location. Possible.
The Luas stops outside the gates of the apartment. The complex is a gated community, and the apartment is a 2bed 2bath, and I [could] have the master bedroom with attached full bath and window overlooking the gorgeous courtyard. The whole place is brand new and fully furnished, and there's even a rooftop botanical garden. My would-be roommate is a lawyer ("solicitor" over here) and graduated from Trinity--basically unheard of. I LOVE this apartment!

But here's the hitch.

I was a complete tool during the viewing.

I was so excited, I couldn't help but ooh and aah over everything. I was just gushing with compliments. God, I was so goofy!! In a city where people practically knife-fight for a flat in city centre, and where the average commute for people working in the city is 1.5hrs (that much time will get you halway across the country), a flat like hardly ever comes on the market. I know I've got tons of competition for this apartment. Let's just hope that she doesn't think I was as goofy as I actually was. :)

So have a great Thursday! If you see my sister, tell her to perk up. If you see my boyfriend, tell him to get some sleep. If you see my California homegirls, tell them to get ready for that which is Boo Jane Bojangles (cuz Boo is moving to Cali!).

I wish they all could be California Boo's...... :)
