Oh bama.

LOL I was just going through these lists of book festivals in the area. Check out the name of this [quinessentially] Scottish book festival. LOL! All the other festivals are these fancy, fussy names like "Miss Perrigrin Merriweather's Fancy Book Party" or like "Sherlock Holmes Writers' Festival: pipe, smoking jacket and monacle required." And then there's Scotland...

OKAY CAN I JUST SAY SOMETHING?!

WHAT IN THE WORLD are people thinking putting Obama down for visiting with foriegn leaders for the week? Is the US legitimitely that ethnocentric? Please, please tell me there aren't honestly people in the States who question why he's visiting overseas. I've been reading reports in the news (CNN and ABC) that claim Americans are offended that Obama has left the US for a week to visit with Presidents and PM's in Europe prior to the election. Are we legitimately that naive that we can't see the benefits of a future president meeting with foriegn officials? Are we so close-minded that we won't listen to what leaders of nations (um, you know, the job Obama is applying for) have to say about him? I realize this issue is close to my heart since I'm overseas and all, but I am literally astounded at the ignorance of either Americans or the American press, wherever the true source of this story lies.

Aaaaanyway, another mutinous day in the office. One of the director's had their several €300 [company purchased] tickets to the Galway Races (Ireland's Ascot) torn in two in the post. Postal error? Yes it was. Being perceived as someone in the office secretly leading a mutiny? Oh, I'm sure. I heard one director say to the other, "But who would DO that?" and the other say, "I don't know, but it's not coming from someone who WANTS you to go to the races, you know?" Oh these guys are the real deal, man. The real deal.

So next week lots of things happen. I get back from Paris, Evan gets into town, Law Review application gets written (by Evan, not me...well I'll proofread it but I do that for everyone for everything) and I begin work on the English GRE. The English GRE is going to kick my ACE. It is really, REALLY hard and to be honest this might hold me back. But I'll get cracking. I'll persevere. I will lead a mutiny on that test!!!!

So have a good Tuesday. Write me something cheerful as I study vocabulary. Check out these words I'm adding to my vocab list that are said to be on the test. Are you joking. What are these?

  • obliate
  • evince
  • mendacious
  • deleterious
  • promulgate
  • ineluctable
  • antediluvian
  • pusilianimous
  • jejune
  • peregrination
  • peroriation
