More updates in my so-called theatre life, which interests no one I'm sure but is the only thing I've been up to and is exciting me way more than it should, so blog I must.
I went to see The Cripple of Inishmaan last night, which I found to be a stellar performance put on by a wildy talented cast, enacting what has been the most poorly written play I've been to yet in the festival. And it's odd, because it comes from the Oscar-winning screenwriter Martin McDonagh, who wrote Six Shooters and In Bruges, which I really liked. But this play absolutely fell short on story. Lots of holes, gaps in story and flaws in dialouge, despite a tremendously funny undercurrent of sagacious wit.
Oh, but the cast has had bit parts on the big and small screen, which I am taking to be a personal brush with fame. There was a guy from The Tudors and a chick from Rome. This is now my fascination: Seeing which movies/tv series the players in my plays have been in. It's turning up some interesting ones! For example, tonight I'll see "Happy Days" the famous Samuel Beckett play and you'll never guess who has the lead role: Aunt Petunia from Harry Potter! I better be careful not to get too much stardust in my eyes, eh? lol. Well okay it's not huge but it's kind of cool.
Anyway the plays have been so much fun and I am a bit sad that all my tickets are almost over. Like I said I have Happy Days tonight (which I added this week to keep the play-party jumpin) and I'm going to an opera on Saturday. An OPERA! My gosh, I must remember tonight to drop my good jeans at the drycleaners... :)
So have a good Wednesday. The girls in my office found out that someone is pregnant but they don't know who, so they're spending the afternoon guessing who. See, I'm feeling a little self conscious lately about the lbs I put on in Italy, so I hope they don't go thinking my pasta belly is a bambino! I'm just going to lay nice and low...
