After a fantastic half month of holidaying at home I'm back in Ireland and back to work. Photos are on their way but in the meantime here are some of the highlights of the trip home:
-First-ever Tomkie Christmas, very exciting. Allie swooned over new sewing machine. Dad bought Klean Kanteen's from LL Bean....called Bean Canteens. Love it.
-Kate/Kaitlyn 4th Bi-Annual Shopathon went down. DOWN. I have pictures of Kaitlyn's back seat looking like Santa's sleigh. We also added a new tradition: the double-date finish.
-Elisa and I had our best-ever continental gift exchange, I believe. Plus it's just kinda nice to talk to your homey from phones in the same country. :)
-Drinking drinking drinking.
-Got Allie hooked on the Amityville Horror case and Paranormal State. Another sleepless believer is born!
-Brought the joy of Bananagram to the Pickering family...Amber, I'll convert you eventually! Amber and Mrs. P made me watch Mamma Mia! singalong, though the facts behind whether or not I actually sang along will never be revealed!
-Adopted my gawgeous first-born child....an oversized Coach purse (I'm in lurve).
-Played Mom's favorite game Perquacky with M&D...Dad tried to pawn fake words off on us....required the frequent use of a large and comprehensive dictionary.
-Norah and Edward have gained about 400lbs since I last saw them. I've signed them up for Bally's New Years fitness plan. I'm a little fuzzy on the details but I'm pretty sure the plan involves not eating giant slices of deli ham and yoplait whips (even if it does say 'low fat', Edward).
-Evan and I had the best 5-year Dateaversiary dinner at Pacific Rim in Ann Arbor for New Years Eve. The food was amazing and the wine was perfectly paired, and we got properly crunk for the occassion. As in to-the-windoooow-to-the-wall crunk. But it was one of our classic 3-hour romantic foodathons that we love so much; it was so nice to have that again :)
-Shayna and I had our 4th annual Hannukah movie night, though we did it matinee-style this year and were very happy with the results. We did, however, have questions about the kids who sat in front of us with garbage bags on their seats.
-Saw Marley and Me and Benjamin Button...you Amurricans do not have anything fun in the cinemas right now, sorry to report!
Fantastic Christmas all in all. I can't wait to show you the photos. Amber, cross out Dec 8th in your calender...Silent45 is back!
Kate,
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Bananagram... but only if I can use words from the scrabble dictionary! I want a rematch next time we are both in Michigan at the same time.
LOVE my gift, Thank You! And yes, that was a 3 hour phone call we had! Who knew that being in the same country even though we were still miles away made a difference =).
